Job overview

We are seeking a Specialist Doctor to join the Diabetes and Endocrine team in Betsi Cadwaladr University (BCUHB) on a substantive (10 x session) basis. This post will be located within the West Integrated Health Community and will be based at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor. 

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team which they will support to deliver a full Diabetes and Endocrine service to the local population. The post holder will support inpatient and outpatient activities held by the department and will join the General Medicine on-call rota. The post holder will be provided with the opportunity to learn and develop their skills and knowledge to support career progression, this will be jointly supervised by the Consultants and their colleagues.

Qualifications, Clinical Skills and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Full registration and licence to practice with the General Medical Council
  • A minimum of 12 years medical experience since primary medical qualification
  • Minimum of 6 years as a SAS grade or equivalent within Diabetes and Endocrinology
  • Provides safe and effective care for patients within the service
  • Adheres to professional requirements participating in annual appraisal, job planning and reviews of performance and progression
  • Demonstrated ability to manage patients with complex needs whilst remaining aware of their own limitations
Desirable criteria
  • Post-graduate professional qualification in Diabetes and Endocrinology
  • Specialist skills and experience
