Job overview
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is the largest Health Board in Wales. The Health Board provides a full range of elective and non-elective secondary care services, although it is highly emergency driven with a very busy ED Department. As part of the anaesthetic team you will make an important contribution to the provision of patient treatment and care within the Health Board.
We are currently seeking a Specialty Doctor who will support the work of the Consultant Anaesthetists within Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
This is a full time post with out of hours commitments. Remuneration will be commensurate with individuals’ experience. The job plan is negotiable, depending on individual’s interests (see section 3) and service requirements.
Specialty Doctor duties link with trainee and clinical fellow duties to provide a broad service.
As an example a typical job plan will include:
- On-call commitment in anaesthesia/critical care/obstetrics depending on the candidate’s competencies.
- Varied daytime work to encompass a range of clinical experience
- Professional development and teaching supported by 2 SPAs

Experience
Essential criteria
- At least 4 years post-graduate experience with a minimum 2 years in the specialty
- Evidence of interest in Quality Improvement.
Desirable criteria
- Anaesthetic experience in a broad range of specialities
- Evidence of research relevant to Anaesthesia
Basic Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Has achieved appropriate level of core competencies
- Completion of Foundation Program
Desirable criteria
- ITU and obstetric anaesthesia experience
- Experience in paediatric anaesthesia
- Appropriate levels of skills and abilities to provide anaesthesia for general emergencies for adults
- Good working knowledge and experience of up-to-date anaesthetics
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBChB or equivalent
- Full registration with GMC
Desirable criteria
- FRCA
- ALS/ATLS/APLS or similar
- Ionising Radiation Certificate
- Member MDU/MPS or similar

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
