Are you an enthusiastic, highly motivated and hardworking professional with a keen interest and desire to pursue a career in ultrasound?
The radiology department are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking individual to join our friendly team in our busy ultrasound departments at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to train in ultrasound. We are looking for a self-motivated professional to undertake a structured program of training and assessment in clinical practice, as well as completing a minimum of a Post Graduate Certificate in General Medical Ultrasound and another specialist ultrasound module(s) with a view to progress in the future to a Post Graduate Diploma in Ultrasound.
The successful applicant will continue on to the PGC in Medical Ultrasound at the University of the West of England or Birmingham City University.

Working alongside our motivated staff to learn how to undertake high-quality ultrasound assessment and produce accurate and concise ultrasound reports relating to ultrasound findings.
A commitment to undergo extensive training and a Masters level qualification.
Providing high quality patient care and excellent communication.
An ongoing commitment to service development and CPD.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder;
Is responsible for understanding the role of a sonographer for which they aim to achieve.
Is responsible for their own work to obtain a Post-Graduate Certification in Medical Ultrasound and must take an active approach in their academic studies as well as the clinical environment, making the transition into an independent reporting advanced practitioner.
Is responsible for learning how to undertake high-quality ultrasound assessment with the help of a friendly team of sonographers.
Is responsible for learning how to produce accurate and concise ultrasound reports relating to ultrasound findings.
Helping to contribute to the delivery of and efficient and effective ultrasound service across multiple sites within the county of Gloucestershire.

Qualifications / Education
Essential criteria
- Appropriate experience following -1st primary qualification
- Degree in Radiography, Nursing, or equivalent. HCPC/NMC registration
- Experience in general medical ultrasound with sonographer feedback
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- An ongoing commitment to service development and CPD
- A keen interest in anatomy and pathophysiology
- Motivation and commitment to undergo extensive training and achieve a Masters level qualification
- Proven ability to work unsupervised as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience of working unsupervised with particular reference to out of hours working
- Ability to provide a high level of patient care in accordance with current protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- To be physically able to safely and competently position and manoeuvre patients and equipment as a routine part of the daily duties, including wheelchairs, beds and stretchers and have a particular awareness of the potential health risks for staff associated with prolonged sessions of U/S sessions.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of supervising, mentoring & assessing Students.
- Ability to demonstrate up to date knowledge of ultrasound imaging techniques.
