Job overview

The post is aimed at senior Gastroenterology trainees (ST4 or above) or CCT holders (or equivalent) and provides an opportunity to develop advanced endoscopic techniques (complex polypectomy including ESD) and endoscopy training skills. The post provides the opportunity for the development of other areas of interest in Gastroenterology such as specialist IBD clinics, specialist hepatology clinics, capsule endoscopy, and research in endoscopy. 

Main duties of the job

The post consists of 50% service endoscopy and 50% training and development advanced endoscopy and others aspects of Gastroenterology that will be tailored to the successful candidate. Applicants will only be considered if they are able to perform independent colonoscopy (including level 2 polypectomy) and have JAG certification (or equivalent) for upper Gastrointestinal endoscopy and colonoscopy.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Applications are invited for a clinical fellow in advanced Endoscopy and Gastroenterology for 12 months (subject to a satisfactory 6 month report) with the option to extend the role to 24 months. The post is aimed at senior Gastroenterology trainees or CCT holders (or equivalent) and provides an opportunity to develop advanced endoscopic techniques and endoscopy training skills. The post also provides the opportunity for the development of other areas of interest in Gastroenterology such as specialist IBD clinics, specialist hepatology clinics, capsule endoscopy and endoscopy research.

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • MRCP (UK) full diploma or equivalent
  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice
  • ST6 or above experience in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy or equivalent
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

  • Demonstrates initiative & resilience to cope with changing circumstances
