Job overview
Same day emergency care (SDEC) is one of the many ways the NHS is working to provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time for patients. SDEC are looking for dynamic nurses to join this team.
It aims to benefit both patients and the healthcare system by reducing waiting times and hospital admissions, where appropriate.
SDEC is the provision of same day care for emergency patients who would otherwise be admitted to hospital. Under this care model, patients presenting at hospital with relevant conditions can be rapidly assessed, diagnosed and treated without being admitted to a ward, and if clinically safe to do so, will go home the same day their care is provided.
The proposed interview date is 16th December
Main duties of the job
Our Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) aims to rapidly investigate and treat patients so they can go home on the same day. Some of these patients may need to be admitted or return the next day for further treatment.
The Unit is a consultant - led service, working alongside advanced clinical practitioners, junior doctors, nurses and clinical support workers.
We are looking for a senior nurse to join our team and help drive the success of the Same Day Emergency Care unit. The role will involve coordinating a busy assessment unit and undertaking a managerial responsibility as delegated by the unit manager or Matron.
Our service is currently 5 days per week, 12 hours a day in Cheltenham General Hospital and 7 days per week, 15 hours a day in Gloucester Royal Hospital
We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, who can use their own initiative and are open to new ideas. We need someone who wants to work and lead a team and who can develop the service and can implement change. This role would also include deputizing for the Unit Manager in their absence.
You should have demonstrable experience in acute emergency medicine and be able to communicate clearly and confidently with patients, relatives and members of staff.
