9 month fixed term maternity leave cover, ends 1.2.25

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our team within the outpatient physiotherapy service at Southend Hospital on a 9 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and hold a Degree in physiotherapy. The candidate will be required to have experience working as a Band 5 physiotherapist and have completed core rotations, including MSK outpatients.

 

Main duties of the job

We offer physiotherapy to patients presenting with a wide range of acute and chronic MSK conditions, accepting referrals form GP’s, orthopaedics, Rheumatology and A&E etc. We are able to offer rotations including general MSK, hydrotherapy, fracture clinic, Rheumatology, Hand Therapy and classes which includes our lower limb rehabilitation class and Escape Pain.  This post is ideal for those wanting to expand their MSK practice. 

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be interested in personal and service development.  You will be expected to maintain a clinical caseload and provide supervision to junior members of staff and students.  The Outpatient Physiotherapy team have a strong commitment to ongoing CPD and you will actively participate in clinical teaching and in-service training sessions, whilst delivering a high standard of patient-centred clinical care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Outpatient Physiotherapy team have a strong commitment to ongoing CPD in order to develop individuals both clinically and non-clinically to strengthen opportunities for future career development, providing regular accountability / supervision and monthly in-service training.

The post creates a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to join our busy outpatient physiotherapy department, assessing and treating patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. Patients may be referred to the service from their General Practitioners or a variety of members of the multidisciplinary team. They may have been assessed and triaged from our telephone assessment service or through our clinical assessment and triage service (CATS).

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas including working with the acute team (A&E, fracture clinic, rehab gym classes), chronic team, satellites services, hydrotherapy, women's health and hand therapy providing the opportunity to experience a wide range of MSK physiotherapy specialities.

Essential criteria

  • • Relevant CPD
Desirable criteria
  • • Involvement in Special Interest Groups.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous MSK experience as a junior or senior.
  • Working knowledge of broad range of patient conditions.
  • Experience of audit and research
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical Educators course.
  • Supervision of junior staff or students

Skills
