An exciting opportunity to join our multidisciplinary ophthalmology team.
As a thriving department with a large corneal/contact lens department, this role is best suited to a Contact Lens Optician or optometrist with an interest in specialist contact lens fitting.
The corneal/contact lens team comprises Consultant Opthalmologist, Corneal Fellow, Registrars, Optometrists, Contact Lens Opticians and Ophthalmic technicians
Main duties of the job
As a contact lens service, we utilise all modes of contact lens fitting including scleral, mini-scleral, RGP, Hybrid and soft lenses for a variety of ophthalmological conditions including keratoconus, corneal ectasias, aphakia, pathological myopia and sjorgens. For visual rehabilition after corneal graft or corneal scarring
We also fit cosmetic/prosthetic lenses in aniridia and corneal scarring.
Alongside the orthoptic team, we manage contact lens fitting in children and adults with anisometropia, significant ametropia, intractable diplopia and amblyopia.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
T
he successful applicant will undertake contact lens clinics and be expected to fit and manage all modalities of contact lenses for a wide variety of ophthalmic conditions
Assessment of corneal topography and anterior segment OCT for contact lens fitting and for monitoring of corneal ectasia and keratoconus.

- GOC registration

- UK driving licence
- Post graduate contact lens qualification
Experience

- Minimum 2 years post graduate experience
Desirable criteria
- Previous hospital experience
