Main duties of the job

To work closely with the Deputy Head of Fundraising to develop and deliver the corporate strategy adhering to budgets and meeting targets.

To lead, develop and expand corporate and business support across Essex, maximising potential income, longevity of support and engagement with the charity.

To be responsible for ensuring all corporate and business relationship work is delivered in compliance with all relevant legislation and industry best practice.

To ensure a pipeline of corporate and business relationships is developed and regularly maintained and to oversee the development of effective pathways to acquire new support.

This role is available as either full-time [37.5 hours per week] or part time [30 hours per week], and some flexible working may be considered after successful completion of probation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To be collectively responsible with other Fundraising Managers for progress against strategy, budgets, and plans.
  • To proactively support a culture of collaborative working in the department.
  • To ensure all high-net-worth relationships are well managed with a donor-centric approach always applied, consistently delivering excellent experience for supporters
  • To directly case-work key relationships as appropriate.
  • To be responsible for ensuring all relationships, cultivation and networking is delivered in accordance with appropriate professional boundaries.
  • To nurture a strong team ethic in the department, encouraging colleagues to work across income disciplines for the wider benefit of the department and to support continued professional development.
  • To identify and cultivate any individuals with personal high value potential.
  • To ensure a pipeline of corporate and business relationships is developed and regularly maintained and to oversee the development of effective pathways to acquire new support.
  • To proactively identify and maximise opportunities to develop new business across all areas of fundraising.
  • To represent Havens Hospices at appropriate events and engagements and to build strong relationships within the local corporate and business networks.
  • To build a strong presence and brand for Havens Hospices within the local corporate and business networks.
  • To ensure regular research is conducted to identify potential relationships, ensuring insight from our own database is developed and utilised.
  • To work closely with Head of Fundraising and other fundraising managers to collectively prioritise and delegate activity and workloads across the department.
  • To work closely with Fundraising Managers, the Data and Insight Manager and the Finance team to understand, monitor and report on financial performance against budget.
  • To proactively stay up to date with sector trends, developments, and insights.
  • Participate in appropriate internal and  external educational programmes to ensure continued professional development to implement best practice across the department, as well as to ensure legal and ethical fundraising practices are followed.
  • To champion a positive culture and understanding of fundraising and of being a charity across the whole organisation.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A Level standard of education, or equivalent qualification
  • Evidence of continuous professional development in a similar role.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
Desirable criteria
  • Fundraising qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role for a medium sized organisation (i.e., total income over £5 million, plus more than 200 employees)
  • Demonstrable experience in managing a team.
  • Demonstrable experience cultivating and maintaining high-net worth relationships.
  • Experience of acquiring support, engagement and/or donations
  • Campaign and project management development from idea creation through to delivery.
  • Experience of Corporate Partnership Agreements, due diligence, and tax implications for charitable giving.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), databases, other relevant software and systems, and the internet to an intermediate level
  • Ability to update and maintain records, databases, and other systems accurately and efficiently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
