Macmillan Psychological Programme Manager

Job overview

You will work collaboratively across Mid and South Essex Social and Health Care partnerships to scope the current psychological services available for people affected by a cancer outcome.

You will analyse and identify gaps in psychological services and use the findings to support re-design and transformation of existing pathways within existing financial envelope(s).

You will develop a project plan with key milestone dates and develop the governance structure framework for reporting.

You will explore models of mental health and wellbeing and develop with key stakeholders’ opportunity for new streamlined pathways.

You will have experience in delivering complex health programmes, be influential and able to develop effective communication and relationships across a broad range of organisations.

Main duties of the job

  • Scoping of all existing services from a wide range of organisations spread across Mid and South Essex.
  • Provide a gap analysis on current provision through holding stakeholder events and focus groups.
  • Review existing pathways into mental health and well-being psychological support with stakeholders to determine fair access for all people affected by cancer.
  • Work collaboratively to identify where gaps persist and work on solutions to meet unmet needs through developing co-produced approaches.
  • Work with people who have been affected by cancer to gain insight from lived experience.
  • Build strong relationships and network with all providers of psychological services.

  1. Macmillan adopt and maintain the Psychological care principles so that they are delivered to every person who is accessing the Intervention.
  2. Macmillan Psychological care principles are consistently delivered by professionals in the delivery of the Intervention (or equivalent roles or as such roles may be renamed from time to time)
  3. Macmillan adhere to the development, and design or co-design, of psychological care strategy and collaborate with all relevant stakeholders in connection with this including attendance at ‘Community of Practices’ or similar forums.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Review staff training and opportunities for upskilling.
  • Collect performance metrics set out in the Macmillan Psychological support annex.
  • Link directly with the Cancer Stewardship Group and work closely with Cancer Clinical Lead for MSEICB.
  • Raise awareness of the Macmillan psychological programme.
  • Complete an in-depth evaluation report and make recommendations.
  • Where there are recognised commissioning opportunities through new national strategies developed, complete a co-produced business case for consideration for MSEICB and partners.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to master’s level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in a specialist area.
  • Prince2 qualification and comprehensive experience of programme and project management principles, techniques, and tools.
