An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic and professional Estates & Facilities team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust as a Deputy Head of Energy & Sustainability.

We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills who is dedicated to working as part of our friendly team.

An experienced energy expert with specialist of programme delivery and monitoring, evaluation and learning across complex projects in the health sector and sustainability is essential.

Working closely with colleagues across Mid and South Essex FT, ICS and NHS England, the health sector, and other stakeholders, the focus of the role will be involved in assisting driving forward specific Greener NHS energy projects.

Main duties of the job

As a lead in the sustainability team at MSE FT and working with the wider regional net zero team, you will support the Head of Sustainability (HOS) in the delivery of both the Trust and ICS wide Green Plans, focusing mainly as lead on energy requirements for the Trust, ensuring the Trust is up-to-date with reporting and minimising energy usage.

This role will Deputise for the Head of Sustainability, where required.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree or equivalent specialist knowledge and experience plus additional specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate courses and experience to master’s degree level
  • Cert in Energy management essentials, Energy management professional, Advanced energy manager or Chartered Energy Manager (CEM)
Desirable criteria
  • Degree in Environmental science, Energy engineering, Sustainable energy or Climate Change
  • Cert in Energy management essentials, Energy management professional, Advanced energy manager or Chartered Energy Manager (CEM) One or more of the essential qualifications listed C

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Managing strategic and operational change. Including the impact on assets, resources, services & staff and developing new ways of working
  • Experience understanding energy systems and implementing energy-saving measures.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of utilities contract management.
  • Awareness of the wider DH/NHS environment, ability to interpret policy and consider impact on services.
