Staff Nurse - Endoscopy

Band 5

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is now one of the largest trusts in the country, serving a population of 1.2 million people. Our newly formed Trust, comprising acute hospital sites at Broomfield in Chelmsford, Basildon and Southend,  is determined to provide the best health services for its local population. We are a well-led, high-performing and innovative organisation working in the best interests of the people we serve.

Job overview

MSE has been successful in securing funding for a new elective endoscopy hub in the Pitsea CDC. With this centre being away from the busy acute sites, it will offer protected elective capacity, allowing for maximum productivity and an improved patient experience. The unit will be designed to meet JAG accreditation standards, offer brand new facilities and equipment and will be the largest endoscopy unit in Essex.

This centre will provide most of the cancer, routine and surveillance activity for colonoscopy, gastroscopy and flexi sigmoidoscopy across the system.

Whilst we await the new Pitsea CDC, funding has been agreed through the national programme to support a 2-room endoscopy mobile unit at Orsett Hospital, in south-west Essex and circa 15 minutes from the future Pitsea CDC.

We are now recruiting endoscopy nurses to join our expanding team

.

Main duties of the job

To follow care pathways for patients undergoing an endoscopy procedure
Ensuring pre, peri and post care is carried out to the highest standard.

Ensuring good communications exist between all health care professionals to promote harmonious working relationships and safe working practices

Assessing, developing and implementing patient care plans and evaluating
care given, ensuring legibility and accuracy of nursing records, to be aware of legal implications of these documents.

Working for our organisation

With a workforce of approximately 15,000 staff, we can now do more and go further in delivering health services to our local communities.

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

Patients will experience improved care as well as fewer delays and cancellations.  We are able to provide more once-in-a-lifetime specialist care region-wide. With our new trust size will come more opportunities for development, research, networking and innovation.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
