Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the vascular access team on the Ipswich site which operates Monday to Friday.

You will be a pivotal part of our small team who are all passionate about providing a high standard of care. We are committed to helping you develop into this role which is varied and involves assisting the practitioners in placing vascular access devices and as you develop you will be involved in the ongoing care of the lines.

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the support and care of patients under the direction of registered members of the clinical team.

To provide support and assistance within the vascular access team including assisting with the placement, maintenance and removal of vascular access devices.

Assist in supplying and maintaining materials and equipment.

Essential criteria
  • Relevant work or life experience with evidence of significance to post
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of relevant past employment record linked to health care.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of ability to learn
  • Care certificate achieved
  • Evidence of completed competencies as part of a professional portfolio
  • Evidence of level 2 qualification in Maths and English e.g., GCSE at grade C/4 or above, functional skills level 2 or ESFA approved equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant health care study or courses
  • Evidence of level 3 study in a related subject e.g. A Levels, BTEC, NVQ, Access to health care.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of an appropriate understanding of personal needs of patients
  • Team Working
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of desire to progress within a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of venous access devices, including the principles of care and management.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and maintaining a sterile field.
