Job overview
Are you a qualified pharmacy technician looking for a new challenge and wanting to work within our hospital pharmacy?
Due to a secondment, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacy technician to join our excellent team providing a 7 day pharmacy service for our NHS Trust, part time – 22.5 hours per week until June 2025.
You should be qualified, or about to be, and hold the Certificate of higher education in Pharmacy Technician Practice or C&G/NVQ3/BTEC or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences/pharmacy services.
We are a busy department covering a diverse range of activities and functions including: dispensary, procurement, stores and distribution, Quality Control, manufacturing sterile, aseptic and non-sterile products, clinical trials, chemotherapy preparation, assembly of emergency boxes and pre-packing from bulk, ward based/clinical services, medicines information and medicines management.
You will work predominantly in the dispensary, however there may be opportunity to work on the wards as part of our clinical team, or chemotherapy preparation units.
We are a supportive department offering development opportunities and will provide in-house training and competencies for all required areas.
Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only.
Main duties of the job
Dispense/supply medicines to inpatients/outpatients on receipt of
prescriptions/orders from patients/staff.
To support the Pharmacy team with safe, effective and timely supply of medicines.
Respond appropriately to incoming telephone calls, patients, customers, visitors and other healthcare professionals attending pharmacy and refer when appropriate.
Support medicines management, optimisation and safe and secure handling of drugs across the Trust including assisting with the return and re-cycling of medicines that are no longer required.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ (QCF) Level 3 diplomas (or equivalent course approved by the GPhC) in Pharmacy Service Skills and Pharmaceutical Science
- CPD recorded in accord with GPhC requirements
- Registered with the GPhC as a qualified Pharmacy Technician (or eligible to register if just qualified)
Desirable criteria
- Accredited Checking Technician
- Medicines management
