Job overview

An opportunity is available for a Physiotherapist to join our innovative team at Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, based in Harlow, Essex, United Kingdom. We provide ongoing care to a broad range of patients, ranging from those who are critically unwell, to those who need minimal rehabilitation or assessment and advice.

You will be responsible for providing a high standard of assessment, advice, treatment and evaluation of patients referred to the acute Inpatient Physiotherapy Service or our MSK consultant referral outpatient clinics, including patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.

In return, you will be supported in your efforts to build on your previous experience to further develop your clinical competencies and leadership skills.

These are permanent, full-time positions (37.5 hours per week). It will suit a newly graduated physio or one returning to practice.

Our 5 monthly rotations include:

  1. Elective and Trauma (including #NOF ward) Orthopaedics
  2. MSK Outpatients
  3. Critical Care and Surgery
  4. Acute Medicine
  5. Care of the Elderly
  6. ED with acute assessment units, short stay wards and frailty
  7. Stroke Rehab with EPUT
  8. Community Rotation with EPUT

Main duties of the job

As a member of the multi-disciplinary team, you will be integral to the efficient and effective running of the Physiotherapy service, and will assist the Specialty Team Lead in providing the highest standard of care to patients referred to us while also working to improve the service where needed. You will also assist in department-wide training..

Often you will work without direct supervision, and as such you will responsible for managing your own caseload and the seamless transfer of physiotherapy care for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type.

Effective communication with patients, carers and all other members of the multi-disciplinary team is paramount, and you will also act as an advocate on behalf of patients for their safety and to ensure they have a positive experience.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy
  • Health & Care Professions Council registration as a Physiotherapist, or a UK-recognised accreditation
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (or equivalent)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Wide range of clinical placements and experience during training
  • Portfolio documenting continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Inpatient, outpatient and community setting experience as a student
