Job overview

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced HR professional to join the People team at Princess Alexandra Hospital as a Business Partner Associate. Working closely with a Strategic HR Business Partner and alongside the wider People team, you will support designated divisions by providing comprehensive and complex HR advice, acting as the first point of contact for employees and senior management.

You will also have the opportunity to develop your operational and strategic portfolio working in a fast-paced but friendly and supportive environment. 

You should be able to inspire confidence in the managers that you support, while demonstrating pragmatism and innovation in your approach with a good knowledge of employment law and employee-relations issues. Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills are essential.

Main duties of the job

  • To effectively utilise and interpret workforce information to support your designated Division with their People plan. 
  • Maintain administrative processes to ensure the efficiency and quality of the delivery of ER cases, recommending and implementing changes as required including maintenance of the ER case system.
  • Advise and support managers with employee relations cases E.g. disciplinary, grievances, attendance management meetings.
  • Facilitate and participate in Employee Relations case conferences in accordance with local procedures and good practice.
  • Maintain the process for all ER cases to ensure consistency and timely completion of documentation and that it is received within agreed timescales by HR Managers, Directors and managers.
  • Take and produce an accurate record from formal meetings including minutes from Meetings e.g. formal disciplinary, capability and appeal hearings.
  • Attend HCG/ Divisional meetings, as directed, advising on the human resource implications of issues raised.
  • Take responsibility for organising disciplinary and/or grievance hearings as well as appeal hearings ensuring that the relevant parties have been advised and have the relevant documentation.
  • Support in the production of training material for employee relations areas such as disciplinary, grievances, attendance management and dignity at work.
  • Provide training to managers on employee relations areas such as disciplinary, grievances, attendance management and dignity at work.
