Job overview
- To be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team
- Participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care.

- Provide a leadership role model and demonstrate specialist knowledge and high standards of clinical practice and provide support or advice when necessary.
Main duties of the job
- Communicate effectively with patients and relatives/carers to provide patients and relatives/carers with information and advice and to liaise with appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team regarding their surgery. Communicate with relatives and patients to offer appropriate information and support.
- Provide and maintain effective clinical assessment to ensure that patient care is planned and evaluated and related to the individual needs of patients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Seek supervision to ensure that personal clinical practice is continuously developing.
- Ensure that all documentation is comprehensively completed in accordance with the NMC/HCPC and Trust guidance.
- Act at all times in accordance with the NMC/HCPC Code of Professional Conduct and maintain NMC/HCPC CPD requirements
- Develop supervisory skills that support the continuous development of team members.
- To respect patient confidentiality at all times.
- To run or assist in the running of operating lists ensuring the efficient and safe running of the session.
- To communicate effectively with patients, relatives/carers and all members of the multidisciplinary team at all times.

We employ 3,500 staff and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and the towns of Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford and Epping.
