Job overview

An exciting opportunity is available at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAH) for a Trust grade doctor to join the Acute Medicine team.

This post will provide you with excellent experience of acute & general medicine in a busy setting with daily Consultant supervision. This role is particularly ideal as a stepping stone to gain practical experience prior to applying for training rotations such as ACCS or IMT.

The Acute department is located over three new areas within the hospital setting, including our new purpose-built Adult Assessment Unit (AAU), our new Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) and our Short Stay Unit.

Main duties of the job

You will rotate through all areas of acute medicine, and your working pattern will include on-call shifts. The acute medicine service at Princess Alexandra currently provides a 27-bedded medical assessment unit, 28-bedded short stay unit and our Same Day Emergency Care Unit which sees approximately 70 patients per day.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registration with GMC & Licence
  • MBBS or Equivalent
  • Foundation Programme 1 & 2 Completed
  • ALS certificate
Desirable criteria
  • MRCP Part 1
  • MRCP Part 2

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in multi-specialty teams in hospital
  • Evidence of personal practice in all areas described by the RCP curriculum
  • Ability to demonstrate personal continuing personal development
  • Participation in relevant audits
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to interpret and apply clinical research
  • NHS experience
