Location: Latton Bush Centre, Harlow
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dietetic Assistant to join our busy and friendly EPUT Dietetic Team in West Essex. EPUT is an integrated Community and Mental Health Trust and we are looking for someone with a keen interest in Nutrition to join our community team. The post is nominally based at Latton Bush Centre, Harlow, but will cover a wider geographic area across West Essex including Epping Forest, Harlow and Saffron Walden.
At Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) we are keen to recruit, retain and further aid the development of enthusiastic and confident staff working within our team. This fixed term post would suit someone wanting to gain or further develop their experience in Nutrition and Dietetics and the NHS. It would suit someone with a science background and good communication skills and provide experience for someone considering a future career in Dietetics. The team share a varied and interesting caseload of patients in their own homes, in GP practice and nursing/residential homes including patients on home enteral feeding.

Your role will focus on supporting the team with patient monitoring and reviews under the direction and support of the dietitians. This will include face to face reviews in a variety of settings such as Care Homes, community locations and patient homes but also telephone consultations from base. You will also support the dietitians with community weight monitoring using specialist equipment.

What is Staff Bank?
Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.
All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

It is envisaged that a significant aspect of the role will be visiting West Essex Nursing and Residential Homes to monitor residents identified at high nutritional risk and to promote a food-based approach to residents, nursing and catering staff as well as to management.
You will also support the team by monitoring patients on our community wards at St Margaret’s Hospital in Epping and Saffron Walden Community Hospital and there may be the opportunity to participate in the delivery of training to Care Home staff, to rehabilitation programmes and Diabetes structured education for example.
EPUT is very supportive of career development and progression and continuous professional development is high on the agenda – both within and outside the Trust. There may be opportunities to shadow the dietetic team in their varied roles or gain experience with X-PERT, our award winning structured education programme for people with type 2 diabetes for example.
The post will support PCNs across West Essex to deliver the West Essex One Health and Care Partnerships Out of Hospital strategy and adopt the principles of population health management to support and improve the health and wellbeing of the West Essex PCN population addressing health inequalities and tackling the underlying causes of ill health. We currently have 2 PCN dietetic roles within our team.
