We have a vacancy for an Occupational Therapist at to work as part of the inpatient therapy team at Halstead Hospital. This is a 20 bed community ward offering a rehabilitation pathway for patients of various ages with a variety of diagnoses. The ward is nurse and therapy led with support from GPs and a medicine for the elderly consultant. Patients are admitted from acute hospitals for a period of active assessment and rehabilitation to optimise their independence and safety prior to returning home.
Main duties of the job

The team which comprises of Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants. The post holder will be part of a wider professionally led, well established therapy service offering a range of specialisms. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To provide a high quality Occupational Therapy service to patients admitted to Halstead Community Hospital ward.
- To work as an autonomous practitioner, within the multidisciplinary team.
- To ensure timely discharge of patients from the service and refer patients on to other health, social care and voluntary agencies, as appropriate.
- To provide leadership, training and supervision for junior members of staff, therapy assistants and Occupational Therapy students on placement.
- To support service development initiatives.
- To manage the day to day work of the team in absence of the team leader.
- To provide clinical cover to other aspects of the therapy service as required.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC registered
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Evidence of broad clinical experience
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in an inpatient setting
- Experience of supervising junior staff, therapy assistants and students
Skills
Essential criteria
- High standard of written and verbal communication skills
Desirable criteria
- Experience of using Systmone

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
