Job overview

You will have autonomous responsibility for performing and reporting a wide range of ultrasound examinations within the various hospital departments and at our outreach clinic.

You will be expected to work and report independently but your support network will be as part of the ultrasound team.

You are required to have a flexible working approach as the department operates from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and provides cover for the early pregnancy unit on Sundays and Bank Holidays. The trust is moving towards 7-day services as standard.

A high standard of work is required in keeping with departmental guidelines and protocols with regard to patient care, and you will be expected to participate in CPD and clinical audit.

A postgraduate qualification in ultrasound is required. You need to be a team worker with good communication skills and have the ability to handle difficult situations with sensitivity.

Main duties of the job

Triage and quality assure referrals, perform ultrasound examinations, and compose accurate and appropriate reports to the highest standards.

Manage patients considerately and effectively in accordance with their individual requirements and expectations.

Participate in audit.

Work with other team members to ensure the smooth functioning of the ultrasound service

Essential criteria
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Capable of performing and reporting obstetric, gynaecological and abdominal scans independently.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in vascular ultrasound or a willingness to undertake further training.
