Job overview

East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust Pathology Services are looking for a Quality Manager with strong leadership and communication skills to join our team in driving forward continuous improvement. 

You will report to the Head of Quality, Compliance & Regulatory Affairs and as a senior member of the quality and governance team be responsible for engaging and embedding a quality culture with design implementation and maintenance of the Quality function of the service.

You will work in collaboration with the  laboratory teams, Service Leads, Operations Managers , Head of Operations  Quality Managers and Head of Quality to ensure that pathology becomes progressively more efficient in delivering a high quality service across both sites.

The Quality team will promote continuous improvement in service quality within all areas of the laboratory assuring regulatory and accreditation requirements to ISO 15189, MHRA, HSE, and others as required.

You will be expected to work closely with all staff to ensure an efficient and effective corporate approach in dealing with all Quality and Training matters. You will be a HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist with extensive experience in implementing and maintaining accreditation and continuous improvement.

This role requires you to travel across Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals with an element of working from home. This role is full time, however we would consider part time.

Main duties of the job

Overseeing and assuring regulatory body approval - UKAS, MHRA, CQC, HSE and any others as required

Assuring appropriate risk assessments and risk managements are in place.

Assuring the Health & Safety functions within the service.

Ensuring compliance with trust quality, risk and governance policies

Performing and overseeing incident investigation to include root cause analysis principles and implementation of the recommendations and learning actions.

Ensuring efficient operation and management of the quality management system.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in Managing Quality, Compliance and Regulatory Affairs
  • Detailed familiarity with operational services and systems
  • Previous NHS experience, knowledge of services and clinicians
  • Extensive experience of Audit and the tools used to evaluate services
  • Experience of training individuals or groups in formal and informal environments, via multiple methods
  • Service improvement experience
  • Experience of effectively line or functional management of staff
  • Demonstrable experience of effectively undertaking collaborative working with multiple partners
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of the use of Statistical analysis software

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
  • BSc Biomedical Science or equivalent
  • MSc Biomedical science, in appropriate discipline or equivalent
  • Quality management qualification or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Health and Safety Training and Qualifications
  • Training Qualifications and or experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Detailed knowledge of ISO 15189, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • IT competent, able to effectively use, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Knowledge of training and mentoring
Desirable criteria
  • HSE, MHRA, CQC, HFEA and IVD knowledge
