Job overview
To support all staff across Provide Community Group in their safeguarding responsibilities for adults at risk of abuse and neglect and to promote best practice across all services
To work with Safeguarding Team colleagues across the MSE (Mid and South Essex) Collaborative to deliver an effective Safeguarding service.
· The Post holder will be responsible for ensuring there is an effective framework in place for Safeguarding adults and lead on the continuing development of this service.
To deliver effective Safeguarding training in line with the Adult Intercollegiate document, Safeguarding supervision, audit and policy review and update in line with current and any new legislation.
To champion and promote Safeguarding for people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism ensuring that reasonable adjustments are made under the Equality Act.
To take organisational lead for the PREVENT agenda.
· To take the lead in Adult Safeguarding investigations including, Section 42s, Internal Management Reviews for Safeguarding Adult Review (SAR) and Domestic Abuse Related Death Review (DARDR)

Main duties of the job
Promote good professional practice in Safeguarding by providing a source of advice and expertise for front line staff working within the Provide Community Group in order to achieve better outcomes for adults with care and support needs who are at risk of abuse or neglect.
The postholder will offer specialist expert advice and professional development within the Provide Community group to Safeguard adults and families.
The Post holder will promote the use of reasonable adjustments within Provide Community Group to ensure equality of access and support for all service users.
The Postholder will promote the principles of Safeguarding and Making Safeguarding Personal in line with the Care Act 2014.
Promote the use of the Mental Capacity Act when requiring consent for care and treatment with service users who are suspected of lacking capacity to make an informed decision and give their consent.
Quality assure MCA assessments.
Implement Liberty Protection Safeguards once they replace DOLS under the Mental capacity Amendment Act 2019.
The postholder will promote the Think Family model.
Provide supervision and support to members of the safeguarding team and staff within the collaborative safeguarding teams and services.
Undertake Safeguarding adult investigations and write reports.
Undertake the role of IMR author for SAR and DARDR.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· Proactively develop and review policies, guidelines and protocols for the management of safeguarding across the Provide Group and Community collaborative, ensuring they remain up to date, relevant and reflect best practice and work to standardise these across the community provider collaborative
· Ensure own personal and professional development is maintained at a high level of expertise in Safeguarding Adults in line with National guidelines and Professional registration requirements.
· Work autonomously and under direction to support the delivery of the community provider collaboration project and a safe and effective safeguarding service within the Provide Group
· Support the organisation to meet service level agreements and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and complete weekly, quarterly, annual and reports
. To contribute to the development, update and implementation of relevant policies, procedures and strategies in line with current legislation and working alongside Health and other partner agencies to ensure that staff adhere to them.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registration (Nursing, AHP, Social Work etc)
- Evidence of continued professional and educational development.
Desirable criteria
- Disability Nursing Recognised Teaching qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of current safeguarding guidance.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of developing and delivering training presentations both face to face and virtually.

Essential criteria
- 3 years post registration experience working with vulnerable adults or families. Evidence of multi agency working in relation to safeguarding adults.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
