Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to work within the Ultrasound Team in our Radiology department. This post is mainly based at Colchester Hospital, however you will be required to rotate across to our Clacton Hospitals.

The job offers an opportunity to be involved in enhancing the Ultrasound service. Your main duties will include assisting the staff with patient care, involving direct patient contact and assisting Sonographers and Radiologists within the Ultrasound department. As well as clinical duties, you will assist in maintaining a clean and safe working environment. You will perform some administrative duties including inputting patient information onto the computerised patient information system, booking urgent scan appointments.

The Ultrasound services are a part of the Trusts Radiology Diagnostic Services that also encompass X-ray, CT and MRI.

This post is part time 27 hours per week. You will be rostered flexibility over a 7 day week to include evenings, weekends and bank holidays. The core working hours are currently 08:00 – 20:00.

You must possess excellent communication and Information Technology skills, and be a good team player. You will need to be able to work under your own initiative but with a high level of supervision and with good support. Appropriate training will be given.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide efficient, high quality support for Sonographers and Radiologist during ultrasound procedures and to carry out administration duties.
  • To assist the Ultrasound staff with patient care.
  • To act as a chaperone during ultrasound procedures.
  • Use the Radiology Computer system CRIS to input information during ultrasound examinations.
  • Maintaining agreed stock levels of consumables used in the department.
  • Answer telephone queries.
