Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the most forward thinking, innovative and proactive therapy teams in the East of England!

We have vacancies in our therapy department for an enthusiastic therapy assistant.

You will work under the supervision of qualified physiotherapists, occupational therapists and therapy assistant practitioners, to carry out rehabilitation plans and help facilitate discharge for patients on wards across the Colchester General Site.

Our Therapy Assistant staff rotate 6 monthly across a variety of wards in Medicine, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Critical care, Stroke unit and Elderly Care.

Position 1 - Full time 37.5 hours per week.

Position 2 - Part time, 15 hours per week, Mondays and Tuesdays.

The department provides a 7 day service and you will be expected to participate in this rota.

Please note, interviews for this post may take place in person, so if shortlisted you must be able to travel to Colchester Hospital for interview.

Please state in your person statement which post you are interested in.

Main duties of the job

You will be supported by qualified therapists, working within a competency framework and will be given all necessary training for the job. You will manage your own workload and participate in team and service development.

You should ideally have experience of working in healthcare,  but this is not essential. You will need to  be enthusiastic, have good communication and organisation skills, be a team worker and able to use your own initiative.

The successful post holder should either have completed or be willing to complete the Level 3 diploma in Healthcare. Apprenticeship funding is available for both Level 2 and 3 Healthcare Support worker courses if required.

Working for our organisation

We are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex. Our dedicated staff deliver care from acute hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, community hospitals, surgeries, community clinics and in patients’ own homes.

We are one of the largest NHS organisations in England, employing more than 12,000 staff.

We pride ourselves on supporting our staff. We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities, as well as flexible working options.

Along with supporting you to achieve your career goals we offer a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments (where applicable), 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata) and access to a range of NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing programme offer a variety of services.

Our philosophy is that Time Matters to everyone. Across the Trust, we concentrate on improving the things we do and removing those which cause time delays for our staff and patients.

We are investing in our commitment to Time Matters with a partnership with leading electronic patient record (EPR) supplier Epic. This digital transformation will bring what’s widely regarded as the world’s best EPR system to ESNEFT, transforming life in hospital for staff and patients.

If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills and knowledge, then we want to hear from you.
