Job overview

Due to maternity leave cover an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Integrated Rapid Assessment team. This is a fixed term/secondment position until the end of August 2025 and is full time.

We are looking for a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic individual to join our team at ESNEFT. You will be a registered Physiotherapist with demonstrable expertise in unplanned and urgent care supporting to safely and effectively discharge patients in a timely manner.

It is expected that you will have excellent communication skills, enjoy working with a variety of service users of different age groups, and have good self-management skills and an ability to prioritise your case load. You should ideally have experience of working in a variety of clinical settings with knowledge of the challenges of working in an urgent care setting. 

We are an integrated therapy team with Physiotherapists & Occupational Therapists and Nurses that work closely together to provide excellent and rapid assessment and discharge planning to our clients.

You will need to have experience in discharge planning and skills in identification of needs for adaptive equipment.

Main duties of the job

Your main duties will include rapid assessment, facilitating discharge, specialist rehabilitation, falls prevention and specialist inpatient services in respiratory care.

You will be expected to perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, and deliver an individualised treatment programme from a range of options.

You will be expected to supervise less experienced, junior physiotherapists and assist staff in clinical areas of practice. You will supervise, educate and assess physiotherapy students to a graduate level, being involved in working with the universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards of the degree level qualification.

You'll be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work, including issues around consent and capacity.

You will manage clinical risk within own patient caseload.

Essential criteria
  • • BSc /MSc Physiotherapy
  • • Member CSP
  • • State Registered Physiotherapist
Desirable criteria
  • • Validated post registration courses
  • • LEO / leadership
  • • Accredited wheelchair assessor
  • • Non-clinical courses

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Proven post registration experience
  • • Range of acute care experiences in core specialities – surgery, medical, respiratory, neuro/stroke and elderly rehabilitation.
  • • Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner
Desirable criteria
  • • Experience of working with assistants / technicians
  • • Ability to build effective working relationships with patients/carers/colleagues
  • • Supervision of students in any environment
  • • Experience of evidencing and auditing practice

Knowledge
