An opportunity has arisen to join the Women’s division at Ipswich hospital as an Operational Co-ordinator, responsible for the co-ordination of the service.
This is a rewarding role ensuring that our services are safely covered over a 24/7 period by working closely with specialities and members of the clinical and administrative teams.
This opportunity will allow you to play a major role in the continuing development of service delivery for the benefit of our patients where care and compassion are central to everything we do.
You will have the opportunity to further develop your operational and management skills in a supportive and innovative atmosphere, including bed management and supporting with the flow of our patients through Ipswich Hospital.

Main duties of the job
As an Operational Coordinator; you will be responsible for the day to day management of a number of key operational aspects including primarily the co-ordination of the Divisional rotas and medical resource.
You will have line management responsibilities for our administrative colleagues; highlighting any issues to the Service Manager.
You will be responsible for ensuring that day to day activity runs smoothly, liaising with multiple stakeholders both within and externally to the Trust.
You will ideally have experience within a healthcare setting. You will also need to be a skilled communicator with dogged determination, and excellent skills in the application of MS Office; and EXCEL.
Whilst we are ideally looking for someone with relevant experience an individual with demonstrable transferable skills would be considered.

- • Working to short time scales and meeting deadlines
- • Working in a multidisciplinary environment
Desirable criteria
- • Previous experience of managing staff within the NHS.
- • Previous medical secretary experience.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Management/Business/Administration degree or proven management experience at equivalent level
- • Leadership courses/ qualification or commitment to work towards
Desirable criteria
- • Prince 2 or project management course
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Wider knowledge of DOH and NHS
- • Knowledge of performance management
Desirable criteria
- • NHS IT systems
