Applications are invited for a part-time Ward Clerk to work within our Neonatal Unit.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and friendly ward clerk to join our  team. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential.

If successful, you will be required to provide clerical and administrative duties to support the nursing and medical team, provide high quality reception duties, answering telephone and welcoming service users and visitors to the unit. 

 

Main duties of the job

Our Neonatal Unit is situated within Broomfield Hospital, and is part of the East of England Network. The Neonatal Unit is a Level 2 Local Unit and offers comprehensive neonatal services,  which include designated Intensive Care cots, High Dependency cots, Special Care cots, and a Transitional Care Service.

We work closely alongside the Maternity and Paediatric Departments here at Broomfield as well as within the MSE network.

If successful, you will be be responsible for comprehensive and efficient administrative and clerical duties for the ward. Use computer systems in order to maintain patient records.

You will support the nursing and medical staff with duties in order to facilitate high quality direct patient care.

You'll also act as first point of contact for all those who visit our ward including welcoming and greeting service users and visitors.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  1. Ensure accurate data entry to all computer systems. Including Lorenzo system for accurate and timely records of patient admission, discharge and transfer.

  2. Prepare patient documentation in preparation for admissions and discharges. Ensure patient records are maintained and stored securely and confidentiality is adhered to.

  3. Welcome and greet service users and visitors to the unit in a professional and courteous manner.

  4. Maintain a polite manner when answering telephone calls and enquiries. Direct enquiries to appropriate staff members in a timely manner.

  5. Liaise with nursing and medical teams for additional duties required in order to facilitate high quality patient care. Liaise with other wards/units as required
