Job overview

Applications are invited from enthusiastic experienced Senior Chemotherapy Nurses to join our senior nurse establishment in a dedicated multi-disciplinary chemotherapy team and work in our purpose built 20-chair Chemotherapy Day Unit at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford.

You will need to be chemotherapy competent and have considerable experience of caring for patients undergoing chemotherapy in a solid tumour and/or haematology setting.

Above all we are looking for experienced cancer nurses with passion and drive who are committed to maintaining and improving care for patients and their families who are undergoing chemotherapy/SACT.

Main duties of the job

You will join a team of senior Nurses to lead and develop the Chemotherapy Nursing team and demonstrate specialist expertise and professional knowledge.

You will work and act as a role model for professional practice and leadership within chemotherapy and cancer nursing and will act as a clinical expert providing expert advice when required.

We are able to offer you academic opportunities to study relevant cancer/chemotherapy related courses that will contribute towards your professional development and enhance your clinical practice .

To be professionally accountable and responsible for the standards and delivery of systemic anti-cancer treatment and associated nursing care within the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Broomfield hospital.

To provide support and specialist advice to patients, families and carers who are undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatment.

To support  the training of chemotherapy nurses and the professional development and education of all chemotherapy nurses  within the team.

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience as Band 6 in Haematology and/or Oncology nursing
  • Experience of managing and mentoring others
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of leadership/management/ mentoring/teaching training
