1 YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT

EPUT is looking to appoint a passionate and enthusiastic part time Specialty Doctor who will provide consistent, high quality Medical input support to the Addictions Inpatient detoxification team. The post holder will have shared responsibility for the clinical care of those patients referred to the team and will be expected to work closely with the consultant and team manager to ensure the provision of an effective service. The post is inpatient based and therefore the post holder is required to be on site. Working days are flexible and can be negotiated.

Main duties of the job

You should be eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983. You will also need to provide evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in psychiatry at time of application and likelihood of achieving CT2 competences in psychiatry by the start date of the post.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • The post holder will be expected to work with the team consultant.
  • Assessments of patients for preadmission assessments and on admission.
  • Participation in MDT meetings
  • Medical support for admitted patients including clerking in and ward management.
  • Participating in ward rounds and doing discharge summaries.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need.
  • Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job and specialty
  • Practical skills: shows aptitude for practical skills, required in the job.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in different clinical settings required in the job
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within Adult Psychiatry

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical
  • Must have experience in addictions
