Job overview

Provide are seeking a Band 2 Housekeeper/Hostess to work on our community ward in Brentwood where we specialise in stroke rehabilitation.

The purpose of the role is to provide an efficient and effective catering, cleaning and housekeeping service according to all Organisational policies and procedures to always ensure the highest standards of service.

Main duties of the job

  • To prepare meals and snacks with the kitchen team according to patient’s dietary requirements and liaise with nursing staff surrounding any changes to patient’s diets. Having an understanding or awareness of the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) is preferred.
  • To oversee housekeeping duties in partnership with the supervisor and as detailed in the Provide Cleaning Guidelines.
  • Monitoring and ordering stock and storing appropriately for the patient kitchen.
  • To have an understanding of protocols, organisational policies and departmental procedures and adhere to them.
  • To ensure that the health and wellbeing of patients is at the centre of all activities and that all staff engage and communicate with patients as appropriate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required for audit purposes.
  • Working with the ward team to ensuring all defects are logged and reported immediately.
  • To ensure effective risk management by accident/incident reporting.
  • Basic administration duties.
  • To follow and adhere to the Organisation’s Health and Safety Policies and instructions and be responsible for your own and other’s health and safety in the workplace.
  • To undertake and statutory and mandatory training as provided by the Organisation and participate in an annual PDR, where working practices may be reviewed, and objectives set. Show willingness to pursue opportunities to develop oneself and complete additional training relevant to the role and service needs.
  • To observe and comply with all COSHH regulations regarding use, handling and storage of all cleaning materials and fluids, in accordance with Organisation’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintain good communication and co-operation with all wards and departments and feeding back information and seeking advice as and when necessary to/from the Team Leader.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent for literacy and numeracy
Desirable criteria
  • Food hygiene certificate

Experience

  • Experience in food handling and hygiene
  • Awareness of COSHH

  • Previous infection prevention experience
