Job overview
Our stroke service at Basildon Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated trained nurse to join our stroke team to support the provision of specialist treatment and care for patients immediately following a stroke.
This is a secondment full time post based at our Basildon Hospital. We look forward to meeting you if you think this job is for you.
Main duties of the job
The stroke patients pathway starts in A&E where the stroke specialist nurses who are on call 24/7 provides thrombolysis and thrombectomy assessment, initial rapid brain imaging and delivers an overall high standard of stroke care.
The focus of your role is to assess, facilitate and provide lifesaving treatment in a timely manner and ensure a prompt triage to Pasteur ward for the staff to deliver immediate hyper acute care for the first 72 hours post stroke.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC registered
- Recognised post registration stroke course or training
Desirable criteria
- NIHSS certificate or must undertake
- GRPG certificate or must undertake
- Undertaken dysphagia training
Experience
Essential criteria
- Strong experience working as a Band 5
- Demonstrable experience in stroke nursing
Desirable criteria
- Experience in research audit

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
