Job overview
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to provide leadership across the MSE in all aspects of research strategy, policy, finance, regulatory compliance, management and operation.
If successful, you will be responsible for initiating and developing MSE led research activity including the building of collaborative relationships with other universities, NHS organisations, research units and networks.
You will have experience of clinical research management at a sensitive level to include experience in the planning, coordination and conduct of research. You will also possess excellent communication skills , interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills, demonstrable leadership skills, able to work within a team and lead teams within a multi-disciplinary setting.

Main duties of the job
· Provide leadership in all aspect of research strategy, policy, management and operation, including any research-related activities not specifically described in this job description. This includes acting as the MSE expert contact for all matters relating to research management and governance, within MSE, or within a wider context.
· Named accountable officer for all research activity across the MSE
· Provide leadership across the MSE in all aspects of research strategy; policy, finance, regulatory Compliance; management and operation.
· Act as the lead representative for MSE research management and governance with all external agencies and internally within MSE - providing advice to the Director of Research, MSE Management Team, Board, and directorate management teams as required.
· Responsible for encouraging, initiating and developing MSE led research activity. This will include the building of collaborative relationships with other universities, NHS organisations, research units and networks.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of professional leadership both strategic and operational including experience of leadership in organisational change
- Experience of clinical research management at a sensitive level to include experience in the planning, coordination and conduct of research
Desirable criteria
- Experience of leadership across more than one organisation Experience of Financial Management Knowledge of current local, regional and national policy issues in health services research and: its governance Knowledge of. the. governance and legislative framework for conducting. Clinical research studies including Good Clinical Practice
Qualification
Essential criteria
- Undergraduate and post-graduate degree Masters (e.g. MSc) in research and/or management or equivalent experience
