Job overview
Here at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust we are seeking an experienced Staff Nurse to work in Paediatric Outpatient's at our Basildon Hospital site and Billericay Health Centre.
The appointable applicant will will be responsible for the effective running of Paediatric Clinics including Diabetes, Oncology, Sickle Cell, Surgical, Cardiology and Endocrine Clinics working alongside a dedicated team of Paediatric Consultants and Paediatric Nurses.
Main duties of the job
- Running of the peadiatric outpatients department.
- Support the phlebotomy service and provide venapuncture to the service user.
- Promote good communication channels amongst staff enhancing good team work
- Undertake daily checks of equipment and report when faulty
- To carry out nursing duties as requested by the senior team
- To deputize for senior team when required or necessary
- To maintain a safe environment for patients and staff

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- You will work within peadiatric outpatients and be responsible for the effective running of peadiatric clinics including diabetes, oncology, sickle cell, surgical, cardiology and endocrine, working alongside a dedicated team of consultants and peadiatric nurses.
- Support the peadiatric phlebotomy service, that is held within the department, ensuring patients and their families are receiving an excellent family led service.
- Support the paediatric allergy and respiratory service, and will learn to become competent in skin prick testing and food challenges, as well as epipen training.
- You will run pre assessment clinics, and ensure that children and their families are prepared for surgery
