Job overview

We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 4 assistant practitioner  to join the Mental Health Physiotherapy team 30 hrs per week. You will be expected to deliver clinical care delegated by a registered professional and contributing to the assessment and evaluation of person centre care plans.

The role requires excellent communication skills, IT skills, and the ability to be adaptable, reliable and highly organised.  Previous experience in this area would be an advantage

The role is flexible, working from home and/or the office and it involves commuting between inpatient units and the community.

 

 

Main duties of the job

  • The Physiotherapy service provides Physiotherapy input to Older people and Adults who are unable to access mainstream Physiotherapy due to their Complex Mental Health presentation. 
  • The role will involve travelling within a wide geographical area of Hull and East Riding, to Mental Health Inpatient units and Community dwellings, providing support for patients, family and carers.
  • To be an established member of the Multi-disciplinary teams within Older Peoples Mental Health.
  • To work within your scope of practice, providing therapeutic interventions to support patients in their own homes and Mental Health Inpatient units. You will be supported via clinical and managerial supervision.    
  • To support the Physiotherapy team to deliver interventions that will optimise patient centred care.
  • To demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team and to provide support/guidance to less experienced staff/students within the clinical environment as required and to delegate care if appropriate.
  • To effectively manage own caseload in accordance with trust policies, protocols and pathways of care.
  • Previous experience in this area would be an advantage.  You will be required to work within your scope of practice, providing therapeutic interventions to support patients in their own homes and Mental Health Inpatient units. You will be supported via clinical and managerial supervision.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Range of work procedures and practices, majority non-routine; intermediate level theoretical knowledge. Diploma or equivalent appropriate qualification, e.g. foundation degree; or NVQ3 level qualification plus short courses or relevant experience to diploma level
  • GCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or skills level 2 Maths & English or equivalent
  • Healthcare qualification
  • Knowledge of a range rehabilitation techniques / community services and urgent crisis response.
  • A good understanding of rehabilitation and community services
  • Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans
  • Knowledge of basic assessments, including risk and the ability to identify needs and care planning
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of continued professional development documented through Trust PDR/KSF/Supervision processes and personal portfolio
  • Understanding or application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area
  • A broad understanding of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to clinical and service area

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of working within the service area.
  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex sensitive information.
