Forensic, Clinical, Counselling Psychologist

NHS AfC: Band 8a

Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust are proud award winners of the HSJ Provider of the Year 2019

Job overview

This is a great opportunity for a psychologist to further develop skills working with adults with complex mental health problems within the Forensic Division. This is a fixed-term post, for nine months, based at an inpatient secure hospital; the Humber Centre, Willerby, Hull (10 minutes from Humber bridge). This role is suitable for a person already working at Band 8a level, or a Band 7 Psychologist, who would like to develop into an 8a role.  The option for internal secondment is also available.

The position will predominately be working within medium and low secure services within a friendly and welcoming psychology team.  The role involves completing assessments and interventions with individuals detained under the Mental Health Act.  There will be multi-disciplinary working with a range of professionals supporting patients in their care and contributing to service development and delivery.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and enjoy team working, as well as having autonomy to deliver key trauma informed interventions and complete assessments relating to forensic risk and mental health needs.   Skills and experience in interventions such as DBT, EMDR, CAT, CBT, CFT and Schema Therapy are all welcomed.  Experience of working with forensic risk would be of value.

As well as completing direct work with service users within secure care, there may also be opportunity to work alongside social services to complete assessments regarding risk to children and within prison to complete assessments and interventions.
