Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for an interim Group Chief Finance Officer to join our group organisation, the NHS Humber Health Partnership, as a six month secondment/fixed term contract opportunity.

Our Group is one of the largest acute Group arrangements in the NHS with a budget of over £1.4 billion and 19,000 staff.

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) and Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) have significant ambitions and are committed to delivering more together for the populations we serve. Our focus is on maximising the opportunity that our new Group organisation can bring to our area, ensuring we improve clinical outcomes, reduce health inequalities and address the workforce challenges that we face.

We are looking for an exceptional leader at this pivotal time. This is an excellent professional development opportunity for the right candidate.  We are looking for someone with robust financial management skills who is eager to work collaboratively at system level and contribute system leadership on best collective use of NHS resources.

We want someone who fastidiously applies best in practice governance and who will be an integral part of our Group governance and accountability structure, applying scrutiny, relentless curiosity and professional challenge across our Group.

Main duties of the job

We are offering you the opportunity to be the Group Chief Financial Officer to one of the largest NHS organisation in the country, and to be in service to two Trust Boards.  This is coupled with the complexity of financial portfolio in an integrated care delivery model blended across both Trusts, of secondary care services at five hospital sites, community services to the population of North Lincolnshire and tertiary services from our north bank sites for an extended population of 1.4 million people for major trauma, cardiology, cardiac and thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, stroke, oncology and hematology, and neurosurgery.  We also host four regional cancer screening services to our extended population and are an anchor institution in respect of our economic role as the largest employer in the region.

Working for our organisation

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
