Apprentice Health Care Assistant
Apprenticeships: Apprenticeship
Job overview
We are looking for motivated individuals who are ready for a new venture. The successful candidate will be joining one of our Clinical areas at Hull University Teaching Hospitals.
This apprenticeship provides candidates with the same passions as us to kick start their own healthcare careers, completing a 15-month Level 2 apprenticeship which will provide the essential health and caring skills required in the NHS today.
The apprenticeship team will provide ongoing support throughout the programme to assist the apprentice to learn and develop within the clinical environment.
There may be opportunity to develop further within the organisation as part of the developing workforce.
Please note that this advertised vacancy does not meet the UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa and therefore HUTH would not be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role.
Main duties of the job
Working alongside other healthcare professionals, successful candidates will be working in busy patient areas gaining an insight into care and how a modern hospital ‘works’. Candidates will be fully supported in learning new skills so they can work safely and calmly in our wards and clinics.
This will include learning a variety of tasks such as supporting patients with fluid and dietary requirements, helping with menu choices, supporting personal care activities (i.e. washing, dressing, going to the toilet), making beds, keeping our areas clean and tidy, as well as appropriate record keeping and helping other clinical staff in their duties.
Through successfully completing this apprenticeship candidates will become familiar with the standards expected within healthcare today and also a valued member of the wider team.
Working for our organisation

Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.
Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.
As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.
We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
