An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sarcoma and Skin cancer nurse specialist to join our supportive team, working alongside the existing Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist to further develop the service at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. 

The Sarcoma/Skin Cancer Nurse Specialist is a pivotal role within the Sarcoma/Skin cancer team and the post holder is responsible for providing appropriate highly specialist advice, support and education to patients, their families/carers and other Health Care Professionals both internal and external to the Trust. 

You should possess excellent communication skills, be highly motivated and ideally have a back ground in plastic surgery/surgery or oncology nursing.

The post holder will be the first point of contact for patients and all members of the multi professional team who have need to access the specialist service. They will act as the patient’s keyworker to implement and co-ordinate programmes of holistic care at all stages of the patient’s pathway from diagnosis, pre-operative support and advice for patients on a surgical pathway through treatment to discharge or end of life care. They will utilise the available resources available within the trust to support the patients including the psychological support team, palliative care team, information services and living and beyond cancer team as appropriate.

As an integral member of the CNS team, the post holder will work autonomously and be able to influence patient care through development of specialist skills, knowledge and experience by the maintenance and development of nurse led initiatives.
