SENIOR PHARMACY  ASSISTANT- ASEPTIC SERVICES

Full time 37.5hrs per week (PART TIME WOULD BE CONSIDERED)

Band 2 - 3 progression

We are looking for  reliable, conscientious and practical pharmacy assistants, who are able to demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and development and with a genuine interest in pursuing a career in a pharmacy aseptic production, to join our friendly and enthusiastic team of staff, providing an efficient pharmacy aseptic service.

 

 

 

 

 

Main duties of the job

The successful applicants will manufacture a range of sterile products, including TPN (Nutrition feeding bags) and chemotherapy and undertake other duties to support staff within the Pharmacy Production Unit to contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of medicines to patients.

The department supports a range of flexible working arrangements and all staff participate in evening, weekend and the Bank Holiday working arrangements of the department , to meet the changing needs of the service, the duties and working times attached to these posts may be subject to reasonable change in the future.

The positions are open to candidates with an NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services or those with a minimum of 3 GCSE's grade C (or equivalent) or above in English, maths and a science who will undertake training and be supported to gain this qualification. Staff will progress to a Band 3 on completion of the training, those candidates who already hold the level 2 qualification will be appointed at Band 3

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services. Must be completed before progressing to band 3
  • Will undertake additional training as required for post
Desirable criteria
  • Four GCSE's including Maths, English and a Science subject at grade c or above IT proficient

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Able to work without direct supervision. Previous experience of a pharmacy environment
  • Ability to undertake manual lifting including delivery services
Desirable criteria
  • Holds a current driving licence and willing to undertake trust driving assessment to help with delivery service
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy environment
  • Previous experience in an aseptic manufacturing unit

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills and able to follow written and oral communication
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Methodical good attention to detail, good organisational skills
Desirable criteria
  • Able to work in an Aseptic environment
  • Willingness to undertake further training
