We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Radiographers to join our dynamic, friendly team, to play a key role in maintaining and improving standards and quality of patient services.

Worthing Hospital is located between the South Downs National Park and the award-winning Seaside that boasts the status as one of the best British seaside towns to move to in 2023, according to Time Out.

It is an exciting time to join our team, with the opening of our Clinical diagnostic center at our Southlands Site (Shoreham-on-Sea) which boasts new X-ray /CT and MRI equipment as well as new US rooms this year.  We are also in the mist wide scale equipment replacement program at our Worthing site.

The post is based on the Worthing and Southlands site and includes training and rotation through general X-ray, theatre and mobile imaging, fluoroscopy. There is also the opportunity to train in CT.  Candidates should have been radiographic experience for 18 months or longer.

Main duties of the job

Please note: Applicants for this post must have prior NHS or equivalent experience.

Applicants must be adaptable and be prepared to work evenings, nights and weekends as part of a seven-day service delivery and also to work at satellite units.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.

As a senior radiographer you will be responsible for looking after junior members of staff through training, shadowing and just being there for people to draw on your experience and knowledge. Part of the senior role involves appraising junior staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Role Summary

  • The post holder will be part of the multi-disciplinary team responsible for the efficient day to day running of the X-Ray department in Worthing and Southlands Hospitals.
  • The post holder will need to be able to undertake a wide range of clinical duties in X-Ray, and other modalities as appropriate, to provide a high quality imaging service and assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, encouraging and supporting 
    colleagues to do so also.
  • The post holder will adhere to all Radiation regulations, Trust policies and protocols.

The post holder will be directly involved in the training and supervision of Radiographers, apprentice radiographers and students.
The role is based at Worthing and Southlands hospitals. You may be required to provide support on other sites across the trust.
The post-holder will be expected to participate in the 7-day extended day service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Communication

  • To communicate in a concise and appropriate manner, highly complex 
    information regarding examinations to clinicians and multidisciplinary teams, regarding diagnosis and/or treatment of patients.
  • To promote good working relationships both between all staff within the Radiology Department and across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Provide excellent care and communication with our Patients providing the highest standards of Clinical care

Service Delivery and Improvement

  • To prioritise and co-ordinate workload and resources in own area of work ensuring efficient and effective patient management.
  • To work autonomously and effectively to ensure a safe and efficient service for patients.
  • As the Radiology service expands the post holder is expected to maintain a flexible approach to work patterns in order to meet the changing needs of the department and to contribute to this expansion.
  • To assist in the evaluation of new equipment if requested by senior staff.
  • To contribute to the creation of policies and procedural development using 
    clinical knowledge.
  • To contribute to financial initiatives through the careful use of all resources.
  • To be able to maintain accurate records using departmental RIS.
