Job overview
We are currently looking for a Patient Safety Midwife to join our team based at Worthing site of UH Sussex.
The role will be a job-share with our current post holder
The Patient Safety Midwife will work collaboratively with other patient safety and risk management leads within the Women and Children’s Division and Trust wide to promote a culture of safety and learning from experience and to promote best practice. They are expected to lead on monitoring, investigation and reporting of maternity related safety and risk and to proactively develop mechanisms for developing safer services. They will also provide support to the midwifery matrons for complaints and claims resolution as required.
Although based at Worthing, you may be required to cover periods of leave for the post holder at St Richard's Hospital, Chichester.

Main duties of the job
Create an environment in which effective learning from incidents can take place
Coordinate the investigation and response to clinical incidents, and serious incidents requiring investigation on behalf of the maternity services including facilitation of incident and panel reviews and feedback to staff and families
Ensure compliance with Duty of Candour requirements through monitoring and collaborative working with HOM ; Trust Patient Safety and Trust Governance
Support the senior midwifery managers and trust complaints and legal teams in co-ordination of complaints and claims requirements
Work in partnership with a range of clinicians and managers in the planning or development of the service to promote patient safety and risk
Develop robust working relationships with wider patient safety teams within the Trust and in outside organisations, such as
Cascade information as appropriate to members of the wider team through internet, team briefings, newsletters and management
Work closely with the Clinical Leads for Women’s Health and Senior Midwifery Managers to ensure information sharing regarding implementation of organisational objectives for patient
Continuous responsibility for establishing systems and standards of communication for routine, complex and potentially stressful
Attend meetings as required and act as a representative of the governance team.
