At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen due to the review of Pharmacy Procurement Services for a motivated individual to join our busy Procurement, High Cost Medicines and Stores Team.

We are looking for a committed, self-driven individual who has the ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate their day to day activities to join our team in a New role to facilitate and manage the Medicines Off Contract processes and Medicines Shortages within our busy Pharmacy Department.

 

 

Main duties of the job

The Pharmacy Procurement Efficiency Officer  is responsible for managing and developing  the Cost efficiency procedures and activities, and contract adherence of Medicines within the Trust, in line with Local, National and Regional standards and contracts. 

 

They are the main point of contact for processing Off contract Claims and reimbursement from Medicines suppliers, and act as the main point of contact for Medicines supply issues, and for sourcing of alternative products and route of supply, to ensure continuity in patient care and safety. Working closely with the Pharmacy Procurement Manager and Medicines Safety Officer and Specialist Pharmacists.

 

They also Supervise and participate in the activities of the procurement of medicines and High Cost Medicines and Homecare, and Stores. Working closely with the Pharmacy Procurement Manager and the wider Pharmacy team to ensure the Trust and Departmental objectives are met.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 / BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent relevant field OR equivalent occupational knowledge and experience (2 years pharmacy)
  • Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPs) Level 3 (or working towards) OR equivalent Occupational knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
  • Existing management and organisational skills
  • ECDL / Microsoft Academy / IT skills pathway qualifications or equivalent
  • Evidence of continued professional development acquired through courses and/or relevant experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven computer competency including but not exclusively Microsoft software products including Excel and Word to facilitate data analysis and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of receipting process, materials management, including stock control, delivery, ordering/invoicing
  • Experience of working efficiently in a busy pharmacy environment
  • Experience of problem solving
  • Experience in audit, data collection activities and analysis
Desirable criteria
  • Experience and understanding of funding streams and processes for high cost medicines
  • Experience of use of SSRS and Define reporting tools
  • Experience of pharmacy ascribe systems
  • Experience of invoicing or accounts systems

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • The ability to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely
  • Proven evidence of judgement and prioritisation skills with regards to targets and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently Organised
  • Accurate with a good attention to detail, Good time management
Desirable criteria
  • Supervisory experience and experience or activities within job remit of trainee staff
