The Conquest Hospital in Hastings and our Community Services were rated ‘Outstanding’ and Eastbourne DGH was rated ‘Good’ Our two acute hospitals have Emergency Departments and provide 24 hour a day care, offering a comprehensive range of surgical, medical, outpatient and maternity services, supported by a full range of diagnostic and therapy services. 


In the summer of 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ (BFF) programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to redevelop and expand our hospitals at Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.

Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join us at East Sussex NHS Trust to drive, champion, and defend gold standard care for people with Diabetes. The post-holder will provide clinical, strategic, and professional leadership for Diabetes and Endocrinology nursing, ensuring that the care delivered to all our patients is safe, effective, caring, well-led and responsive both now and in the future. The post-holder will be a source of expertise and operate with a high degree of autonomy whilst also working closely and collaboratively with senior medical colleague

The patient will be at the centre of everything you do. You will lead well-established, supportive, and collaborative multi-disciplinary teams dedicated to ensuring high quality care of people with Diabetes at ESHT. You will be responsible for the professional leadership of the Diabetes and Endocrinology nursing workforce, and demonstrating a supportive, person-centred, and motivational approach with a 'can-do' attitude.

We are looking for an outstanding nurse leader who has the vision and commitment to deliver high quality clinical care to patients, whilst developing robust nursing practices and embedding clinical governance systems within the Division, aligned to relevant professional, national and local strategies and policy frameworks including CQC Compliance and other compliance frameworks/requirements.

Main duties of the job

To lead, manage and continue to develop at the forefront of innovative diabetes specialist practice, inspiring colleagues to implement such practice and service developments.

To work with colleagues to implement the East Sussex better Together integrated diabetes service. To promote and develop robust partnership working to ensure true integrated care across the CCGs.

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse (part 1 NMC Register) •
  • ENB 998 or equivalent
  • First level degree or equivalent • Master’s degree
  • Independent Non-Medical Prescriber • Counselling certificate
  • Recognised University Teaching Training
  • An approved qualification in Multidisciplinary Diabetes Management
  • Substantial experience at senior level in clinical diabetes nursing practiced material. • Evidence of continuing professional practice
  • Proven track record of achievement in changing clinical practice, teaching in clinical practice, academic achievement, and professional staff development.
  • Extensive diabetes nursing care experience
  • Experience of staff management • Evidence and experience of leadership qualities
