At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

An exciting opertunity has arisen, due to promotion, to join the Conquest Hospital Estates dept. at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT) as an Estates Officer working with the Estates Operational Maintenance Team to support the day to day operational maintenance of the ESHT estate.  Are you an experienced and motivated Electrical Engineer looking for your next challenge? We will recruit someone who excels in providing an organised and highly efficient service, innovative in their thinking with the ability to make decisions, developing and supporting departmental service improvements ensuring that we are fit for the future.

You will have relevant knowledge and experience in an electrical engineering role of single phase and three phase systems up to 400Vac and IET Requirements of Electrical Installations. You will be qualified to NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in an electrical discipline. Be prepared to train to accept Autorised Person duties in electrical and other disciplines.

To lead, manage or, where applicable, share and support responsibility as delegated for the maintenance, monitoring and development of designated functions of the Estates dept.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To manage and arrange :

Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) undertaken by in house and contracted resources.

                   Reactive maintenance.

                    Specialist maintenance

                    The procurement, control and provision of services, plant, equipment and materials, their installation and commissioning.

                     Personal and staff training requirements

                     Health, Safety and welfare

                     Energy management

                     Plant, equipment and services Insurance liabilities

                      High, Low and Extra Low voltage electrical systems

                      Water systems, Ventilation, Medical Gas, Fire, Lifts and Decontamination equipment 

 

 

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • HNC or equivalent in an Engineering/Building related subject
  • Be prepared to train and qualify as Authorised, Responsible or Test Person in roles associated with Hospital Technical Memoranda (HTMs) as delegated and as listed under ‘Desirable Criteria’
Desirable criteria
  • Managerial endorsement to NVQ level 4

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of complex building stock, its fabric, services, plant and equipment in a pressured environment
  • Minimum of 5 years experience managing a multi-disciplinary maintenance workforce ideally within the NHS
  • Development of building management systems
  • It lierate
Desirable criteria
  • Design of building and engineering services in compliance with Building etc Regulations
  • Associated approved codes of practice
  • Hospital Technical Memoranda (HTMs)
  • Health Building Notes (HBNs)
