We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the amazing Occupational Therapy Team at the Princess Royal Hospital. It is  the smallest UHS hospital site and has a very family feel to it.  We would also consider a Band 5 to 6 development post if this is a role which interests you but you think you need more clinical and supervisory experience first. The successful applicant will be part of the general medical team covering mainly our Care of the Elderly and Dementia Care ward/s but may be expected to cover other medical wards on occasion as needed.

You should have previous relevant acute medical experience and  will work closely with patients, their family and the multidisciplinary team to ensure quality service provision.

We  offer:

  • A supportive working environment with regular supervision and protected  CPD time . Organised CPD to include Journal Club, Monthly In Service training sessions and regular manual handling training with OT colleagues.
  • Peer support from other OT’s on site
  • Opportunity to contribute to service development 

You should have:

  • Enthusiasm and the ability to work autonomously under pressure
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
  • Confident clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Experience across a variety of clinical settings at Band 5/6 level
  • Comprehensive communication and assessment skills
  • The ability to demonstrate innovative and proactive ways of working

To provide specialist occupational therapy interventions using evidence based, flexible and patient-centred approach, working within a Multi-Disciplinary Team to meet the health and social care needs of people who are referred to our services. 

To perform a specialist occupational therapy role for patients referred to the post holder’s clinical team with complex health and social care needs. 

To provide supervision and leadership for relevant junior members of occupational therapy staff in conjunction with the team leader. 

To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within a designated specialist team.  

To provide supervision and training for students on practice placement

  • Clinical experience in areas relating to speciality/post or able to demonstrate acceptable equivalent
  • Proven experience as an Occupational Therapist
  • HCPC Registered

  • Knowledge of the OT role, relevant standardised OT assessments and interventions in conditions relating to various acute specialities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain communication on complex, potentially stressful topics in a range of situations, with individuals or groups
  • Ability to analyse complex assessment outcomes, identify problems and offer solutions
  • Ability to organise and respond effectively to complex information
  • Assessment for and prescription of environmental adaptations and equipment provision; including skills in home visit assessment and function/ task analysis
