Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

We are looking for two enthusiastic and flexible team members to join the Booked Admissions Office site based at the Conquest hospital with a rotation of cross site working, between Eastbourne and Bexhill. Working at our Bexhill site every Friday. 

This is an exciting opportunity for applicants who have strong organisational skills, adaptability in a fast-paced environment and strong communication skills. The successful applicants will be able to manage their own workloads whilst also working alongside a diverse team.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include being responsible for the booking of both day case and inpatient elective surgical admissions, as well as being the first point of contact for our patients and staff with a vast range of theatre or admission queries. You will be responsible for having regular contact with patients on the Patient Tracking List whilst also arranging Pre assessment  clinics, supporting the transfer of patients from other Trust providers or private sector.  

You will be responsible for booking surgical operating lists in line with the Trust Referral to Treatment Access and Management Policy and Cancer access policy.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE (or equivalent) to include English and Maths Grade C or above
  • A Level / NVQ 3 (or equivalent) Administration or Customer Service
  • Additional training and skills to diploma level in IT
Desirable criteria
  • Waiting list management experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Use of electronic patient record systems such as PAS
  • Previous NHS/waiting list administration experience
  • Previous experience in dealing with members of the public.
  • Experience using specialist IT applications in the workplace
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience dealing with distressed/upset/angry people

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
