In the summer of 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ (BFF) programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to redevelop and expand our hospitals at Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.

Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.
In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.
Job overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Vascular Nurse Specialists and work within the multi-disciplinary team at spoke hospitals, Eastbourne and Hastings, as part of the Sussex Vascular Network. We are looking for a Registered Nurse with vascular experience who demonstrates excellent patient care values, is dynamic and forward thinking and has a commitment to team working.
The Vascular Nurse Specialist will work within the multi-disciplinary team playing a key role in the vascular patient’s pathway journey from point of referral to surgery by using advanced clinical skills to undertake patient assessment, intervention, and treatment as an Independent Practitioner. The successful candidate will be working within a variety of vascular nurse-led clinics including Claudication Assessment, Aortic Aneurysm Lifestyle Clinics and Leg Ulcer Clinics. The post holder will also have the opportunity to work independently within ward setting across the trust supporting patients through treatment pathways with the support from Vascular Consultants.

To enhance the experience of patients with vascular disease by providing specialist support and coordination throughout the patient journey.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse
- First Level Degree in related subject, or equivalent experience
- Educated to degree level supplemented by diploma level specialist training or relevant equivalent training and experience
- Evidence of continued professional development to masters level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
- Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
- Recognised teaching qualification, or prepared to work towards
- Research qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum 2 years’ experience at Band 6, or above caring for patients with vascular disease in an acute hospital setting.

- Previous experience of working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist

Skills
Essential criteria
- Specialist knowledge of Peripheral Vascular disease & its impact on the patient & family.
