At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

Main duties of the job

We are a very busy and friendly team looking to engage a Medical Secretary with sound secretarial and excellent typing, and interpersonal skills to take on this busy and varied post.  The successful applicant will become an integral part of an efficient team providing secretarial support to Consultant Radiologists and the wider team within the Department.

We are looking for a candidate who is an excellent communicator; who can think on their feet and problem solve when needed. The candidate would be expected to multitask between conflicting demands along with being highly organised, efficient in time management and proficient in Microsoft Office and typing up from dictation and minutes .   Previous experience as a Medical Secretary will be an advantage

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of good general education to GCSE level including maths and English
  • RSA III secretarial qualification or proven equivalent knowledge and experience
  • ECDL or equivalent computer qualification
  • NVQ 3 / 4 in Business Administration or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development in relevant field
Desirable criteria
  • RSA I or II secretarial qualification or proven equivalent knowledge and experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant secretarial experience in a healthcare environment, preferably Radiology
  • Proven experience of using software packages for word processing, databases and spreadsheets.
  • Experience of note taking and production of minutes from meetings
  • Proficient in Radiology Systems, e.g. PACS, CRIS
  • Trained on relevant NHS systems e.g. BigHand, OASIS, ESearcher, JOE, Integra
  • Experience in managing diaries

  • Experience in managing diaries
  • Familiar with specialist record systems
  • Supervision of staff
