In the summer of 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ (BFF) programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to redevelop and expand our hospitals at Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.

At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Senior Healthcare Assistant in the General Outpatient Department at Eastbourne District General Hospital. We are seeking a full time experienced Senior Healthcare Assistant who is an excellent team player with a reliable work record.

The Outpatient Service is the shop window of the Trust that aims to provide a service that is patient focused, with an emphasis on quality and efficiency. 

This role would suit someone who is; proactive, embraces change, has high standards, is well organised, is an excellent communicator and enjoys being part of a large clinical team and learning new skills.

If you have experience in Outpatients services, enjoy meeting new people and having a positive impact on patient experience then this opportunity is for you.

 We are offering you an interesting and varied role, where you will be working as part of a friendly team.  Additionally we would be interested in employing a person who would be keen to progress in their career by undertaking the Nursing Associate Training. This training would be fully supported by the department should you meet the criteria and be successfully accepted onto the course.

Main duties of the job

The Senior HCA will contribute fully as a member of the nursing team, and be effective in the smooth running of the department.

The Senior HCA will work closely with the team, including junior staff and students, providing supervision as required.

This post would also suit a Health Care Assistant who is looking to develop their career by considering training for Band 4 Nursing Associate.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • National Vocation Qualification (NVQ) level 3 in Health and Social Care OR an acceptable alternative level 3 qualification with equivalent experience OR other relevant comparable qualifications
  • Satisfactory general education and record of training
  • Evidence of additional training relevant to role
  • Care Certificate
Desirable criteria
  • Tissue viability and wound care competency training
  • Willing to undertake Nursing Associate Training to progress to B4

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience at working at NVQ3 competency for a minimum of 6 months
  • Recent knowledge and experience of the NHS
