Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.
In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.
Job overview
The Coronary Care Unit and Cardiac Catheter Laboratory team. CCU is a busy 11 bedded high dependency unit nursing elective and emergency cardiology admissions. In addition we have Cardiac Catheter Laboratory and recovery areas.
We are looking for a pleasant and caring Ward Clerk to join our efficient and professional team at Eastbourne District General Hospital. You will have experience of dealing with the general public, be able to manage difficult situations. The team on the ward is both friendly and supportive, with a strong commitment to providing a high standard of care.
If you have an ability to work calmly under pressure and feel you meet the following requirements:-
· A good communicator and enjoy meeting people.
· Possess a polite and caring manner
· Have a good sense of humour
· Able to prioritise own workload
· If you are computer literate, Keyboard skills an advantage, but training will be given.

Main duties of the job
The post holder’s primary focus will be the timely handling of reception duties and interaction with members of the public and colleagues. Responding to and taking action to resolve queries with pace and tact. Responsible for ensuring patient records are available and electronic patient tracking systems are kept up to date in line with Trust policy.
As a core member of the team the post holder will provide a comprehensive and quality administrative and clerical function to support the smooth day to day running of the clinical area.
The post holder will be conscientious and work calmly under pressure with a flexible approach. Using initiative to prioritise workload with efficiency, accuracy and care. The post holder will be polite and caring with strong interpersonal skills to manage situations including those of a challenging nature.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good general education including English and Maths GCSE grade C or above, or equivalent level of knowledge and experience

- Recognised relevant qualification such as: customer service, administration, secretarial, IT (e.g. ECDL)

- Previous clinical/administration experience in a busy environment
